Cure Brain Cancer Foundation has been announced as the official charity partner for “Dream Lover – The Bobby Darin Musical” which commences at the Sydney Lyric Theatre, The Star on 22 September 2016.
Cure Brain Cancer has a strong personal connection to the production. The show’s producer John Frost was a close friend of radio legend Stan Zemanek who died from brain cancer in 2007 and Frost cites Stan’s love of Bobby Darin’s music as an inspiration behind the musical.
Dream Lover will feature some of the biggest hits from the 50s and 60s that were made famous by global heart throb Bobby Darin, including Mack the Knife, Beyond The Sea, Splish Splash and the title track, Dream Lover.
The show reveals the legendary singer, songwriter and actor’s extraordinary life, who, together with his movie star wife Sandra Dee, provided the sound track to a generation.
TV presenter and performer David Campbell will play the lead role, supported by a stunning cast including Caroline O‘Connor, Hannah Fredericksen, Bert LaBonte, Martin Crewes and Marney McQueen.
The musical captures the glamour and passion of the big band era, the Rat Pack in Vegas and the Golden Age of Hollywood. Featuring a sensational cast and an eighteen piece band, “Dream Lover – The Bobby Darin Musical” is a big show with a big score and a big heart.
Cure Brain Cancer will be selling 50 Premium Seats with a VIP experience, with all proceeds going directly to the foundation. Bucket collections will take place at each of the four weekend shows of 21-23 October. http://www.curebraincancer.org.au/dreamlover
