The legendary Borodin Quartet, presented by Musica Viva, will return to Sydney for performances at the City Recital Hall Angel Place on Monday, 29 September at 7pm and Saturday, 11 October at 2pm.

For almost seventy years, the Borodin Quartet from Russia has been celebrated for its insights and authority in the chamber music repertoire. Revered for its searching performances of Beethoven and Shostakovich, the Quartet is equally at home in music ranging from Mozart to Stravinsky.

The Quartet, comprising of Ruben Aharonian (violin), Sergey Lomovsky (violin), Igor Naidin (viola) and Vladimir Balshin (cello), makes its first visit to Australia since 2010.

“We’re absolutely delighted to be coming to Australia again, to play for audiences there, and we’re happy this has become something of a regular event in our calendar. The concerts there are always amazing and remarkable,” said violist Igor Naidin.

On this tour, Beethoven and Shostakovich will form the group’s core repertoire
