Cirque du Soleil is set to return to Sydney with TOTEM, an all new production which opens on 28 October 2014 at the Entertainment Quarter, Moore Park. Their trademark blue and yellow big top will house this awe inspiring production which will take us on a fascinating journey into the evolution of mankind.
Written and directed by multidisciplinary artist Robert Lepage, TOTEM traces the human species from its original amphibian state to its ultimate desire to fly. The characters evolve on a stage evoking a giant turtle, the symbol of origin for many ancient civilizations.TOTEM illustrates, through a visual and acrobatic language, the evolutionary progress of species. Somewhere between science and legend TOTEM explores the ties that bind Man to other species, his dreams and his infinite potential.
Featuring a cast of 45 acrobats, actors, musicians and singers, TOTEM is an uplifting array of athleticism, comedy, heartfelt emotions and surprising visual effects. More than 3 million people across 25 cities worldwide have been mesmerised by the intimacy and beauty of TOTEM, since its World Premiere in 2010.
This year, Cirque du Soleil celebrates its 30th anniversary, having brought wonder and delight to close to 150 million spectators in more than 300 cities, in over forty countries on six continents.
