Listen to the music of Cole Porter on Thursday 19 September 8pm and Saturday 21 September 2pm at the Concert Hall, Sydney Opera House with Sydney Philharmonia Festival Chorus & Orchestra Conductor, Brett Weymark and soloists Rob Mallett, Kerrie Anne Greenland, Caleb Vines and Julie Lea Goodwin.
“Cole Porter’s songs are urbane, witty and at times, darn right rude! His songs are a record of a time of decadence and exuberance which will be performed with some of the up and coming stars of music theatre, a large symphony orchestra and chorus” said Brett Weymark.
Sydney Philharmonia offers the opportunity for Sydney to hear the instantly recognisable and memorable tunes of one of the world’s greatest composers with Begin the Beguine, Night & Day, Blow Gabriel Blow, Anything Goes, I Get a Kick Out of You.
Four singers, ex graduates from WAPPA and Sydney Conservatorium, will join the feted Festival Chorus and Orchestra.
Rob Mallett recently toured nationally as Buck in Hot Shoe Shuffle. “Porter’s melody’s are addictive. The wit in his lyrics is magical and relevant today! I feel as rich as he was when I sing them!” said Rob. Kerrie Anne Greenland is a mezzo soprano who has been in many film and theatre productions. “Cole Porter is actually my favourite composer of all time. His lyrics are timeless, sophisticated and witty I feel very privileged to have the opportunity to sing some of his best work” said Kerrie.
Calab Vines has been in a myriad of stage productions and Julie Lea Goodwin’s professional career began when she was 19 and cast to perform the role of Christine Daae in The Phantom of the Opera starring alongside Anthony Warlow. Tickets $32-$90 (plus booking fee) http://www.sydneyoperahouse.com
