SYDNEY SYMPHONY GOES CIRCUS

The Sydney Symphony delighted the packed audience in the Concert Hall at the Sydney Opera House recently with its performance of Cirque de la Symphonie, one of the most exciting and entertaining concerts I have seen anywhere.

As well as hearing a varied selection of beautiful music which was, I feel sure, familiar to most in the audience, I was enthralled and entertained by the unbelievable acrobatic feats of the talented international performers of Cirque.  Aerialists, jugglers and a balancing act were just some of the performers making up this spectacular evening.

Conductor Guy Noble seamlessly brought the music and the performers together and his magnetic personality and interaction with the performers and audience, added to the enjoyment of the evening.

I certainly hope Sydney Symphony will present performances of Cirque again, as it had a very broad appeal and even those who were not typical classical music buffs would enjoy this concert.  The many children present seemed to be equally enthralled.  What a wonderful introduction to classical music for them.

Upcoming concerts with the Sydney Symphony in the Concert Hall at the Opera House will feature Thomas Adès who is conducting the orchestra at the beginning of May and Principal Conductor Vladimir Ashkenazy who returns in May to conduct two programs:

The 2013 Waverley Design Awards were presented by the Mayor of Waverley, Cr Sally Betts at the recent Awards Night, held in the Scenic Lounge of the Bondi Surf Bathers’ Life Savings Club at Bondi Beach.

The Awards recognize and promote heritage conservation as well as outstanding contemporary design.

Prior to the awards presentation, guests enjoyed drinks and canapés as they admired the photos of this year’s entrants, which were on display around the room.

Guest judge and 2012 winner Chris Elliott gave an overview of the awards, followed by guest judge and speaker, Tone Wheeler, who entertained the crowd with his informative talk, giving personal insights into this year’s awards entrants.

These awards encourage the highest standards in architecture and lead to making the Waverley Municipality a more beautiful environment for residents to live in.   Sandra Tiltman  Photo: John Pond ©

GIVE MUM THE GIFT OF GREAT HAIR

April 27, 2013

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAHaving a beautiful head of hair attracts many admiring and often envious glances.  No matter what outfit the person is wearing, the first thing most people notice is the hair.  Some people spend a lot of time each morning, applying various products then blow drying and styling their hair trying to achieve a special look or even just trying to make their hair look like it did the last time they visited their favourite hair salon.

Coming to the rescue is BC Bonacure, which allows consumers of hair products to choose any shampoo and conditioner they like from the huge BC range.  The premise behind every BC Bonacure product is the concept of Hairtherapy and rebuilding beauty from within.  A concept inspired by skin care, the BC Bonacure ranges offer a high performing hair care programme, which enhances hair beauty.

The ranges that fall within the BC Bonacure family include Repair Rescue for damaged and unmanageable hair.  Color Freeze which freezes colour pigments in place for longer lasting colour.  Time Restore for mature and fragile hair.  Smooth Shine which smooths and nourishes unmanageable hair.  Moisture Kick that prevents dehydration and moisture loss.  Volume Boost which boosts the volume of fine and delicate hair and Hair & Scalp Deep Cleansing which purifies the scalp and helps prevent dandruff.

The Oil Miracle shimmer treatment that comes with each pack is part of the Oil Miracle range.  The Gold Shimmer Treatment is the perfect weekly pampering to deeply recharge hair from within.  The treatment gives a lasting feeling of luxury, with the precious oils leaving hair with an instant, opulent shine.  The BC Oil Miracle range has been designed to distribute precious oils evenly so as to not overburden even the finest of hair.  Rounding off each pack is the Youngblood mighty shiny lip gel.  What a great gift for Mothers Day!     Sandra Tiltman,   PHOTO: John Pond©
