ANGKOR WAT: The world heritage listed Temples at Angkor Wat in Cambodia are a sight so beautiful that you somehow think they cannot be real, but after spending a day climbing through the spectacular stone ruins I totally agree they are a sight to behold.  My first glimpse was on the drive from the Siem Reap airport on the way to the Le Meridien Hotel where I was to spend three wonderful nights.

We hired the services of the hotel’s 4 wheel drive which included a driver/guide for a day which turned out to be   the best thing we could have done.  He  managed to take us to points of interest that we would never have found by ourselves.  Our guide knew everyone and easy access without the waiting to all the temple areas meant we got to see much more than those on normal tours.  All this for less than the cost of  going on a local tour.

I can now cross off one of the items listed in the Patricia Schultz book “1,000 Places To See Before You Die”.

Now only 999 more to go, counting down.
